Maria Nomikou works as a youth trainer since 2004 in the fields of Human Rights Education, Intercultural Learning, Peace Education, Education for Democracy, Life Skills, Capacity building of Youth NGOs etc. As a member of the Pool of Trainers of the European Youth Forum she delivered and coordinated training courses for a number of institutions such as the European Commission, the Council of Europe, the Organization of Security and Cooperation in Kosovo, UNHCR, the Ministries of Education of Greece, Cyprus and Romania, the National Youth Councils of Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Spain, Finland and Russia, the British Council etc. As an external partner of the University of Ioannina, she implemented intercultural learning activities in Intercultural Schools in Greece for 3 years. From her current position at the British Council, she has created numerous educational programmes for teachers and schools on and she has worked on a number of educational manuals with activities on Life Skills, Intercultural learning and Human Rights Education. In the field of inclusion, she was one of the 2 trainers of the Project on Inclusiveness of the European Youth Forum which consisted of 3 training courses in Finland, Azerbaijan and Russia and she was member of the sub-group on how training methodologies can support inclusiveness. In addition to that, she facilitated the working group on Social Inclusion of Young People at the Youth Event held in St. Petersburg on 22-23 September 2012 prior to the 9th European Conference of Ministers responsible for Youth.
